Anti-Bullying Policy Review

As you will be aware The Boards of Management of all schools are required by the Department of Education and Skills to review their Anti Bullying Policy this year and to adopt the template provided by the Department for this purpose. The Board of this school updated the school Anti-bullying Policy in the second term of last year and ratified the reviewed document which included the issue of cyber bullying in May 2013.

The current policy is available to view attached to the Information for Parents page of the Board of Management section of this site and all parents who would like to contribute to this current review are asked to read our current document in conjunction with the Department Anti-Bullying Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools September 2013. If you copy and paste the following link into your browser it should allow you to access the Department document http://www.education.ie/en/Publications/Policy-Reports/Anti-Bullying-Procedures-for-Primary-and-Post-Primary-Schools.pdf .

You are welcome to contribute to this review by email, letter or you may arrange a direct meeting with the Principal. You may contribute to the discussion any time during the month of November 2013.

Best of Luck

Debate

Congratulations to the 5th class team who represented the school so superbly this morning. They were not successful on this occasion but they presented their arguments with conviction and clarity and we have no doubt that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. They were very well supported by all their researchers and are looking forward to many more challenges throughout the year. A sincere thank you to Mrs. Murray and Ms. Holden for all the work that they have put into developing this strand of the curriculum. The skills they are developing will go a long way towards ensuring that these pupils are articulate and reasoned citizens. We wish our visitors all the best in the competition.

We were particularly proud of the manner in which the whole class represented their school and their families when looking after the visiting team. A major thank you to all those who provided such beautiful goodies. Our visitors were truly impressed.

Parenting Talk

Laois Offaly Parenting Partnership delivered a very interesting introductory talk for parents of children in Junior, Senior Infants and First Class last night. Our thanks to Ms Angela Egan who presented and please log onto the Parent’s Council page for updates on upcoming talks.

Congratulations

There was great excitement in school today when we heard that all our football teams have reached the Cumann na mBunscol finals in Portaloise next week.  Well done to all connected with the teams.

The finals will take place on Wednesday and Thursday but we will have definite times and dates tomorrow. Keep an eye on the blog for details.

Call for photographs

Your children are asking for your help with their homework. We are all putting together a heritage calendar for the coming year and would be grateful for your assistance in taking shots for inclusion on the published calendar and on the school blog.

Please check your child’s bag for details of their curriculum area. This project will run throughout the year but we are looking for photographs this week so that we can organise the published version.
