First Confession
Congratulations to all the children in 2nd Class who made their First Confession today.
Thank you to their teachers who prepared them so well and to Fr. Dunne who ensured that this was a very relaxed but special afternoon.
As you can see we must also say a very big thank you to all those who baked delicious treats for the party held afterwards. We really appreciate the kindness of all those who gave of their time to prepare, serve and clean up following our gathering. We must also say a huge thank you to the girls in 6th class who prepared the venue with such enthusiasm and energy.
All the attention at this table is focused on a gorgeous cake baked by Kathleen Crosby. As you can see it certainly had the wow factor.
Congratulations everyone

Catholic School’s Week 2013
Parents
Please check out the Parent’s Council page (Tuesday 29th) for updated information on courses offered to parents in Laois Education Centre. Most of these courses are offered free of charge and offer valuable information to parents across a range of topics.
Catholic School’s Week
On Sunday Jan 27th, the pupils of 2nd class marked the beginning of Catholic School’s Week as they participated in their Candle Ceremony as part of their preparation for their First Holy Communion. The children were joined by their teachers, readers from 6th class and the school and parish choir. We are particularly grateful to all members of the Parish Choir who joined with the children to celebrate the school’s place in the community. We will keep you informed of other activities to mark the week as they happen.
Welcome back to school
Welcome back to all our pupils and their families as we begin our second term. We look forward to another busy few weeks with plans already taking shape for a show in March and lots of Green School Activity. Keep up to date using this blog.
Well done to all the Junior Infants who are now sporting their ‘I was immunised’ badge. Thank you to all the parents and adults who had to fit this appointment into their schedules. If your child was not in school today the HSE will contact you with another clinic time.
Reminder: If you ordered a school calendar before the holidays you should collect it from the school office.

Copper Fair
‘The King was in his counting house, counting out his money’. This group spent the afternoon sorting 1c, 2c, 5c coins into bags. Great credit goes to the pupils of 6th Class who organised a ‘Copper Fair’ in aid of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Homemade cakes and biscuits,
a nail bar and friendship bracelets,
and games of many kinds were organised,
to encourage the pupils throughout the school, to part with their small change in aid of this good cause. 6th Class would like to say a sincere thank you to all who supported their fund raising event so generously and would like to announce that they made €666 approx. which was forwarded to The Society of St Vincent de Paul this afternoon.
